Whoa Networking!

Hey everyone!

About a year ago, I attended the Women’s Success Summit in Miami with the intention to create connections, learn about the event’s production and find some inspiration. There, I met a wonderful young woman who was telling me all about her vintage furniture rental company. I was initially captivated. We had lunch together, sat next to each other and later met her business co-owner and husband at the cocktail party. We had a few laughs, exchanged business cards and that was that. Fast forward to today, that same woman will become my new boss. Whoa networking!

It works people! You just have to go out there and do it. If you’re the type that fears it, I’ll tell you my secret… Be yourself. That’s pretty much it. You are your own business card. Job opportunities, leads and connections are primarily driven by your personality and then by your knowledge. You may be a genius at what you do, but if you don’t tell people about it, you’re not going anywhere. Or you might tell people about it, but you sound like you are bored to death. No one wants to work with a bore! I’ll tell you a little more…

Happy Thanksgiving!

HappyThanksgivingHi everyone!

I don’t know about you, but the holidays tend to creep up on me. I feel like we spend all this time working and focusing on our daily routines and then all of a sudden, BAM! Thanksgiving is here. It happens so fast! But, I do love the holiday season. It adds an extra spring in my step and I’m constantly singing Christmas songs everywhere I go.

I’m very lucky to be able to spend Thanksgiving with my family back home in Puerto Rico. It’s unlike your traditional Thanksgiving. There is no fireside, no sweaters, no hot apple cider and no snow. Instead, I’m wearing a bathing suit, drinking piña coladas by the sea and then having turkey dinner with mango stuffing. I love it! However, if there’s a TV nearby there will be football. With my mom and I being the only girls in the house, this is bound to happen. :-)

I hope today is a day filled with love and grace for all of you. Have a great time and make sure to hug your loved ones tight. Let them know you are thankful for their presence and their love.

Thank you for taking the time to read this post during Thanksgiving day. Click HERE to read my post on those things that I’m thankful for this month.

Happy Thanksgiving! ¡Feliz día de Acción de Gracias!

Happy Halloween 2013!

Happy_Halloween_White

We really enjoy Halloween here at Zania.net. To celebrate the festivities, I’ve made some delicious Crisp Candy Corn Treats (click HERE for the Martha Stewart recipe), crafted some DIY mummy jars, decorated my door with our gleeful skeleton, put together a low budget costume for myself but I have yet to carve a pumpkin! Oh well. At least I was able to put together a cute Jack O’Lantern post for all of you to see. If you haven’t seen it, you can check it out HERE.

This year, we’re headed out to Lincoln Road in South Beach, FL  with friends. I will be dressing up as Mary Poppins! I love that Julie Andrews. I’m just going to have to stop myself from singing “just a spoonful of sugar helps the medicine go down…” Make sure to follow me on Instagram as I will be sharing my favorite costumes of the night!

What have you done this Halloween? Upload pictures of your crafts, decorations or costumes on my Facebook Page HERE.

Have a Spooky and Safe Halloween!

How do YOU Define Success?

Hello beautiful readers!
For some time now, I’ve been very intrigued by the Huffington Post’s Third Metric initiative to transform the definition of Success. Not so many years ago, success was defined as Money + Power = Success! After a recession that made us reflect our true needs for survival and truth, the definition of success has taken a turn and is not completely seen as the result of Money + Power anymore. We are slowly but steadily shifting the meaning of success. Would you agree? Take a look at the infographic below for example:

Isn’t it interesting? I bet you hear lots of people say that achieving happiness is their ultimate definition of success. However, don’t you think that attempting to reach happiness is somewhat unattainable if you can’t be happy NOW?! If you want happiness in life, then you have to live happy everyday. Look around you and notice the things that give you joy. That’s where you find happiness! I look around and see success in my loving husband, my cute apartment, my morning green tea, the nice breeze and the fact that I am alive. I believe I’m already successful but I must keep working at being successful, at being happy, to remain happy. Just remember, we can only use the present moment to change or improve our future. Now a question for you: How do YOU define success?

Attached are a few links that I found interesting:

Hope you enjoyed this post. I certainly love digging deep into these life conundrums.
